8 DAY AMALFI COAST DISCOVERY

Welcome to Italy, where history, art, culture and food all come together for a Gutsy Women experience you'll savor for a lifetime.

DAY 1: Arrive Rome

Welcome to Rome, a city full of amazing sights, spectacular shopping and beautiful people. After check-in, there's time to unwind for an espresso in one of the many cafe?s. This evening enjoy good Italian wine and good company as you meet your fellow Gutsy Women travelers and Travel Director and enjoy a relaxed dinner in a traditional Roman restaurant. (D)

DAY 2: Rome

Experience the fabulous history of Rome with an expert local guide today, overlook the ancient Forum, see the Circus Maximus and view the Colossem, the infamous setting of gladiatorial combat! In the afternoon stroll along the Via del Corso and shop for Italian fashion and shoes, or mix with the locals enjoying the buzz around the Spanish Steps. (B)

DAY 3: Rome – Pompeii - Sorrento

This morning journey to Pompeii, the Roman city which was petrified and preserved by the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79AD, and enjoy a locally guided walking tour of the excavations where you’ll see the Roman baths, heating systems, the kitchens, and also the remains of the panic that struck the inhabitants as the volcano started to rumble. Afterwards a breathtaking drive along the Bay of Naples will take you to clifftop Sorrento where you’ll spend four relaxing nights in the Grand Hotel Europa Palace http://www.europapalace.com/. Tonight experience your first taste of the beauty of southern Italy as you enjoy a delicious fish Highlight Dinner in a restaurant overlooking the sea. (B,HD)

DAY 4: Sorrento – Amalfi Coast

This morning travel along the scenic Amalfi Coast, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, and admire the stunning coastline edged along the high cliffs above the sea. The twists and turns of the road reveal a coast of incredible beauty overlooking the azure waters of the Mediterranean sea, and gorges and cliffs that line the contoured coast. Stop for a visit of the beautiful town of Amalfi and see its prized Norman Cathedral before travelling to a charming restaurant for a delicious lunch with wine. Next stop is Positano, originally a fishing village, Positano is now considered one of the jewels of the Amalfi coast. You’ll understand why as you wander the lanes and steps that lead all the way down to the azure waters of the sea. (B,L)

DAY 5: Sorrento - Capri

Enjoy a full day journey to the colorful Isle of Capri by ferry. Travel by funicular through the sweetly smelling lemon and orange groves to Capri town and stroll around the Piazzetta where you can join the glitterati and enjoy a drink of freshly squeezed orange juice or a cappuccino. Then travel on a minibus to visit lovely Anacapri and tour the 19th Century Villa San Michele, a well-preserved example of a quintessential Roman villa, built by the Swedish royal physician Axel Munthe. Spend the afternoon exploring the charming shops and chic boutiques or take the opportunity to join an optional excursion to visit the most famous of sights on Capri, the famous ‘Blue Grotto’. In the late afternoon return to Sorrento for a free evening. (B)

DAY 6: Sorrento – Gutsy Encounter Lunch

A special day today as you travel along winding narrow roads to a lemon grove and the home of the Esposito family. Get to know your hosts as you learn how an old-fashioned lemon press turns lemons into ‘limoncello’, and help them prepare traditional cuisine from local produce. Finally enjoy the fruits of your labour as you join the Esposito family for a meal, including the food you’ve prepared, while overlooking the Bay of Naples. After this ‘Gutsy Encounters’ you really will feel like you’re part of the family! Return to Sorrento for some free time to perhaps visit the Basilica of St. Antonino and enjoy some delicious locally made gelato. (B, GI-L)

DAY 7: Sorrento - Rome

Return to Rome, and upon arrival enjoy some time to do some last minute shopping in the chic boutiques. This evening enjoy a Farewell Dinner in a traditional restaurant, look back on the wonderful experiences of the last week and plan your next Gutsy Women trip with your new friends. (B,FD)

DAY 8: Depart Rome

This morning after breakfast it's time to bid farewell to Italy as you return home with wonderful and enduring memories. Airport transfers are available to Fiumicino airport. Conditions apply. (B)

Double Room - two people, traveling together in same accommodation
Shared Room - one person, traveling solo who would like to share with another passenger and pay the per person "Double" price (Shared rate is guaranteed if booking is made at least 90 days prior to departure date.) For trips including a safari or cruise, share pricing is guaranteed if deposit is made at least 120 days prior to departure date.

Air travel arrangements for Gutsy Women's trip participants are made independently as most women are traveling from various gateway cities within or outside North America. Gutsy Women Travel includes a group transfer or individuals book private transportation if desired.
