Itinerary

Sawatdee! Welcome to Thailand.

This nine day adventure takes you into the heart of this dynamic country, from the bustling streets of Bangkok all the way to the H’mong Hilltribe Lodge, nestled in a picturesque valley. Along the way, discover ancient temples, tranquil mountain landscapes, savory local delicacies, and memories to last a lifetime.

Day 1: Bangkok
Sawatdee! Welcome to Thailand. Your included transfer brings you to our hotel, where we meet our Local Leader. Tonight, enjoy dinner with your group at a local restaurant. (d)

Day 2: Bangkok
Begin the day with a Chao Phraya River cruise to explore the famous canals — which seem a world away from the chaotic streets of the capital. Pay a visit to the magnificent Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which highlight the grand architectural traditions of Thailand. (b)

Day 3: Bangkok > Kanchanaburi
Travel north to Kanchanaburi. There will be plenty of stops along the way to stretch your legs, including a break for lunch at a local restaurant. Located at the junction of the Khwae Noi and Khwae Yai rivers, Kanchanaburi is home to the infamous “Bridge on the River Kwai.” Tonight, explore the Kanchanaburi Night Market with your Local Leader to taste all the local varieties of Thai food. (b, d)

Day 4: Kanchanaburi
This morning we learn of Kanchanaburi's history with a moving visit to the Hellfire Pass Memorial, built to honor the Allied POWs and Asian conscripts who died while constructing the Thai-Burma Death Railway. Boarding at Nam Tok station, take a ride along the Khwae Noi River and travel over the original wooden viaduct. This afternoon, you may choose to explore Erawan Waterfalls. (b)

Day 5: Kanchanaburi > Sukhothai
Today we head to Sukhothai. Upon arrival, visit the Sukhothai Historical Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The religious art and architecture of the Sukhothai era are the most classic of Thai styles. The park contains the remains of 21 historic sites, with awe-inspiring Buddha images and ponds filled with stunning lotus flowers. Enjoy a home-cooked dinner at the end of the day. (b, d)

Day 6: Sukhothai > Lampang > H'Mong Village
Our private coach takes us north to the H'mong Hills. En route, stop in Lampang — considered by some as the last paradise in Thailand. Here, we visit Friends of the Asian Elephant, the first hospital in the world established to care for sick and abused elephants. We arrive this afternoon at H'mong Lodge - a tranquil experience in a picturesque valley surrounded by stunning natural landscapes. Pack a warm sweater as the weather will be mild and cool year-round due to the lofty mountain locale. We spend the evening with the locals, enjoying a barbecue dinner and cultural performance by the H'mong people. (b, d)

Day 7: H'Mong Village > Chiang Mai
We travel today to the most vibrant city in northern Thailand, Chiang Mai. The “Rose of the North” boasts famous temples, dazzling beauty and welcoming locals. This afternoon, a cooking class teaches us the intricacies of Thai cooking before we get to savor our creations. (b, d)

Day 8: Chiang Mai
Explore Chiang Mai with a cycling tour through the old city: mingle with monks, explore the flea market, sample northern Thai cuisine and visit ancient temples. Afterward, head off to explore the famous temple complex of Doi Suthep. Tonight, a farewell dinner at a local restaurant and the Chiang Mai Night Market caps off an amazing adventure. (b, l, d)

Day 9: Chiang Mai
Our exciting Thailand adventure ends today. Perhaps you will extend your adventure with a Koh Samui island extension. (b)
