Itinerary

Vietnam has a complex and deep history. Here, tradition still matters, and natural beauty abounds. This compelling adventure takes us on a journey of contrasts through ancient temples, bustling cities and picturesque countryside. 

Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi 

Xin chao! The beauty and culture of Vietnam are waiting for you. Your included transfer will bring you to our hotel. Meet your fellow adventurers this afternoon as you gather with your local leader. Tonight, stroll through hidden alleyways and bustling markets with your local leader on a street food exploration. Let your taste buds run wild as you learn about the intricacies and traditions of Vietnamese food. (d)

Day 2: Hanoi 

Today, your local leader will open your eyes to the magnificent history of Hanoi from ancient times to today. Visit the Tran Quoc Pagoda, Quan Thanh Temple and the Temple of Literature. We’ll stop for lunch at a favorite local food market before you enjoy an afternoon unscripted in Hanoi. Perhaps explore the National History Museum for a comprehensive look at this incredible country. (b, l)

Day 3: Hanoi – Ninh Binh

We journey south to Ninh Binh today – a land rich in history and food. We’ll stop for a taste of traditional Vietnamese pancake and pork barbeque along the way to Hoa Lu, the former capital of Vietnam until the 11thcentury and home to the Dinh and Le dynasties. This afternoon, we’ll discover the countryside by bike, stopping to connect with a local family over lunch – you may even learn about fish catching!  (b, l)

Day 4: Hue 

We fly to Hue this morning (interflight included). Hue, the imperial city of Vietnam, is home to countless treasures of the past. Enjoy the morning to wander and explore. The bustling Dong Ba Market is a perfect spot to get local! This afternoon, we visit the Hue Imperial Citadel – damaged by war, the ruins once contained temples, state houses and the emperor’s palace. This evening will surely be a special one. Together, we are the guests in a local home, where we’ll cook with the family before enjoying dinner. (b, d)

Day 5: Hue

A new perspective is waiting for us today as we uncover the beauty of the countryside how you would prefer – either on a driving tour, or by motorbike! We’ll connect with locals at a market, visit the lakeside royal tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, the Thien Mu Pagoda, The Pagoda of the Celestial Lady, where we’ll take in stunning views of Hue before taking a short river cruise back to the city center. Day 6: Hue – Hoi An 

Our journey south continues through the mountains to the coast along the spectacular Hai Van Pass. We’ll make a short visit to China Beach before arriving in Hoi An. Together with your local leader, explore this historic and delicate city. Enjoy time after to let the city unfold for you to experience. (b)

Day 7: Hoi An 

Today we get a glimpse into Cham culture during our visit to the My Son Sanctuary. These incredible temples, built to honor the Hindu god Shiva, were constructed between the 4thand 13thcenturies. We’ll head back to the city of Hoi An to enjoy a picnic lunch before and evening at leisure. (b, l)

Day 8: Ho Chi Minh City 

We fly to Ho Chi Minh City today and visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, a powerful site from the Vietnam War. Discover this underground city, which was the headquarters of the Viet Cong. After hearing accounts of the past from our insider expert, return to the city. This evening hop on a vintage Vespa and venture out to for a local food experience. (b, l, d)

Day 9: Mekong Delta 

An excursion by boat brings us into the Mekong Delta today. Discover a local village by tuk-tuk and enjoy lunch in the heart of the delta tasting local specialties and tropical fruits. After lunch, paddle in sampans along the Mekong for a new perspective of this region. (b, l)

Day 10: Ho Chi Minh City 

Our adventure ends today.  (b)
