DAY 1

On arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met by a Lion World Tours representative and transferred to your Nairobi Hotel.

DAY 2

After breakfast you will visit the Karen Blixen Museum and Giraffe Centre as well as the Daphne Sheldrick Orphanage. Return to your hotel where you will have an opportunity to enjoy some souvenir shopping at the Maasai Market in the Village Market shopping centre. The Karen Blixen Museum & Giraffe Centre lies on the foot of Ngong Hills. Made famous in the film 'Out of Africa' the Karen Blixen Museum is located in the house where Karen Christence Blixen-Finecke lived from 1914 to 1931. It is a beautiful old colonial house that along with the gardens have been restored to their former glory, with furniture, artefacts and photographs from her days as a pioneer coffee farmer. It is situated in appropriately named Karen, about 20 minutes from the centre of Nairobi. Afterwards, continue to the nearby Giraffe Centre to see families of the rare endangered Rothschild giraffe. The Giraffe Center cares for the rare endangered Rothschild giraffe. Visitors can have a close and personal interaction with the Giraffe. The Center is a non-governmental, non-profit making organization, which was founded in a bid to save the endangered Rothschild Giraffe, which had lost its natural habitat in Western Kenya to agriculture. There were only 120 left in the wild. Today the Rothschild Giraffe population in Kenya is about 500.

Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage is located in the Nairobi Game Park in Nairobi. Daphne Sheldrick is a Kenyan author and conservationist. Daphne and her team have been raising and reintegrating orphaned elephants into the wild for over 30 years. It was originally started by Daphne's husband David Sheldrick, and the work was taken over by her after his death. The park itself is too small to sustain any adult elephants, but they take in orphaned baby elephants from all over Kenya. Having completed their two milk dependent years, these orphans, along with the human family of keepers who replace the lost elephant family, grow up in the Tsavo National Park, where they mingle freely and at will with the wild herds and eventually become fully integrated back into the wild community.

The Village Market is the largest Shopping, Recreation and Entertainment destination in East Africa. True to its African inclination, The Village Market bubbles with ethnicity every Friday. The shopping center hosts a plethora of African artefacts at their Maasai market an ethnic fusion event that attracts not less than 350 craftsmen. On display is an array of traditional African pieces of art, done and made to celebrate the satisfactions and traditions of Africans.

DAY 3

After breakfast drive north to 'Born Free' country where Joy and George Adamson raised Elsa the lion cub in the wild and beautiful Shaba National Reserve which along with Buffalo Springs is part of the area known as 'Samburu'. Arrive in time for lunch at the luxurious Sarova Shaba Lodge, which is built around natural springs and offers an oasis of green in the midst of this beautiful but harshly arid landscape. The Sarova Shaba Lodge is located high above the Shaba Game Reserve, and it cleverly incorporates the beautiful natural springs as one of its special features, also offering itself as the perfect base from which to explore The Shaba Reserve.

Spend the afternoon discovering the unique wildlife of the reserve, which is famous for its elephants and lions. Return to the lodge in time to relax before dinner in the restaurant which is raised on timbered stilts overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River.

DAY 4

Today enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the reserve. Irrigated by the river, which is home to numerous hippo and crocodiles Shaba offers sanctuary to large herds of elephant, healthy numbers of lion, leopard, cheetah, plentiful plains game, reticulated giraffe, rare Beisa Oryx, kudu and gerenuk. It is also one of the few reserves in which you can see the Grevy’s zebra (rather than the more common Burchell's zebra found elsewhere) and the critically endangered wild dog. Offering 100 species of birds, the reserve is also home to the rare blue-shanked Somali ostrich. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be at the lodge.

DAY 5

After breakfast drive south to Lake Nakuru which is the most famous of the Great Rift Valley lakes and home to a shifting population of over one million flamingos. Arrive in time for lunch at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge, which enjoys sweeping views across the lake. Lion Hill Lodge impresses every guest with its panoramic view of the pink shoreline created by millions of flamingos on Lake Nakuru. The Lodge is situated within the Lake Nakuru National Park Rift Valley Province and is surrounded by natural flora and fauna in its beautiful grounds.

Spend the afternoon on safari in Kenya's first and largest rhino sanctuary where sightings of both black and white rhino are almost guaranteed and where you have a higher than average chance of spotting a leopard. Other wildlife includes; lion, hippo, the rare Rothschild's giraffe, Colobus monkey, numerous plains game and 450 species of birds.

DAY 6

Leave flamingo fringed Lake Nakuru behind, heading southwards and turn right at Maai Mahiu to ascend up over the top of the Mau Escarpment. Then heading due south, you travel towards Narok, gateway to the Masai Mara and district headquarters of this part of Masailand. You'll travel across the "breadbasket" of Kenya, covered with acres of wheat and barley; you'll reach your destination, Mara Sarova luxury tented camp, by lunchtime. Located within the boundaries of the Masai Mara Game Reserve, this comfortable luxury camp offers delicious meals and a swimming pool, and makes a perfect base from which to explore the wonders of this corner of Kenya.

Take an afternoon game-drive in this magnificent game reserve. Masai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem to the south. Game abounds here, particularly when the migration is on, and millions of wildebeest and zebras make their way back and forth across the Mara River on their annual trek.

The Mara is also noted for its abundance of lions - particularly the superb black maned males. You'll see lots of elephants here often in large herds, and if you're lucky leopard, cheetah and rhino. All of the Big Five are residents. You're sure to see the African buffalo. Get the cameras ready and enjoy yourselves!

Sarova Mara Camp is set in the African bush but the luxurious tents all have permanent roofs, zip-up fronts, and electricity and en-suite facilities. Relaxing outside your own tent listening to the orchestra of rasping Cicadas, croaking Tree Frogs and the intermittent call of birds and monkeys is a memorable symphony.

DAY 7

Enjoy morning and afternoon game viewing in Africa's richest wildlife viewing arena. Historically teeming with wildlife, the Mara hosts Kenya's largest lion prides and elephant herds. Other predators include leopard, cheetah and spotted hyena; while in the Mara River you will see fat pods of hippo and vast Nile crocodiles. Other highlights include giraffe topi, gazelle, zebra, buffalo and over 550 species of birds. Spend the evening in camp where colourful Masai dance and cultural performances are offered nightly.

DAY 8

Morning and afternoon game drives in the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

DAY 9

After breakfast depart the Masai Mara and head across acres of rolling wheat and barley farms. Cross the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley whilst keeping an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle before heading up the rift escarpment. (B)
