DAY 2: Istanbul

This morning see what a vibrant city this is as you join a local guide and visit the Topkapi Palace, the museum of Hagia Sophia and the magnificent Blue Mosque. Later, discover some Eastern moves as you join one of the best belly dancers in the city for a fun-filled lesson. Then a free evening so you can explore and find a local restaurant with some friends for dinner. (B)

DAY 3: Istanbul to Ankara

Enjoy picturesque scenery as you travel via Kosekoy and Bursa to Turkey's modern capital, Ankara. (B,L,D)

DAY 4: Ankara to Cappadocia

Sightseeing includes a visit to the Hittite Museum, portraying the fascinating history of Asia Minor from earliest times, a visit to Anit Kabir, the mausoleum of Ataturk, Turkey's greatest leader in modern times and the mausoleum of Sufi philosopher Haci Bektas before heading to Cappadocia. Upon arrival there's a truly special experience as you visit a nearby village and spend time with a local woman drinking tea, chatting and learning about rural Turkish life. Finally, arrive at one of the most unique hotels that you'll ever stay at in your life - one of the famous cave hotels, literally built inside caves where people have lived for thousands of years. (B,D)

DAY 5: Cappadocia

Begin the morning with a walking tour through the village of Uchisar and finish in a small rock canyon away from the roads and tour buses. Climb through tunnels to the top of the rock citadel of Uchisar, the highest point in the region, and enjoy the spectacular panoramic view. Enjoy lunch at the Somine restaurant before proceeding to the Goreme Open Air museum. Cappadocia’s most famous attraction, the museum complex consists of numerous cave churches decorated with exquisite frescoes and paintings dating back to the 10th Century. Tonight enjoy dinner at the Elai Restaurant, which has received several culinary awards for its unique contemporary Cappadocian dishes, before finishing the day with a mystical and enchanting performance by Whirling Dervishes accompanied by a glass of wine. Watch in awe as they perform the Sema, a ceremony representing a man's spiritual ascent through mind and love to perfection. (B,L,HD)

DAY 6: Cappadocia to Istanbul

This morning, visit the unparalleled Kaymakli underground city, a multi layered complex carved into the hillside by the Hittites nearly four thousand years ago. This incredible site was then expanded by the Assyrians, Persians, and Romans as each civilization conquered the region. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Istanbul and on arrival see the city from a different perspective as you cruise the Bosphorus and have free time to find a local restaurant for dinner. (B)

Visit the lively and colorful spice market, a dreamland for spice lovers and bursting with shoppers perusing the small side streets. This afternoon, visit the amazing Grand Bazaar, a labyrinth of over 4000 stores selling everything from slippers, antiques, and gold to spice and, of course, carpets. Tonight enjoy a seafood Farewell Dinner with your fellow Gutsy Women travelers at the Capari Arif restaurant, look back on the wonderful experiences of the past week and plan your next Gutsy Women trip.
